4 Spectacular Duluth Playhouse Series

The Duluth Playhouse offers a variety of entertainment for adults at its Main Stage and Underground Theater. Each series provides a completely unique experience. However, all shows deliver a memorable evening for you and your loved one. 

  1. Playhouse Series – The main stage has a wonderful season plannedaudience in the theater watching a play at the Duluth Playhouse with shows to make you laugh, cry and sing along to musicals. Pack your tissues for the funny tearjerker, “Steel Magnolias.” A touching and humorous story of six friends enduring heartbreak. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the musical comedy “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” arrives in February. Follow King Arthur and his quirky knights on their quest in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot.” You’ll be laughing on the ride through this musical. The year wraps up with a murder mystery “The Mousetrap” and the classic rock opera “The Who’s Tommy.”
  2. Film Series – See the classics as intended, on the big screen in a grand theater. Also stay after the film and participate in a chat about it. This year the Duluth Playhouse begins with a bang showing “A Streetcar Named Desire.” Then Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert take you on a comic ride in “It Happened One Night.” The classics continue with two very different films “Sunset Boulevard” and “Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.” Movie theater empty auditorium with red seats and blue lighting in the Duluth PlayhouseThen the sweeping epic movie “Lawrence of Arabia” wraps up the season.
  3. Special Events – In addition to plays and films, visitors also enjoy incredible concerts at the Duluth Playhouse. “1964” The Tribute is more than a concert and Rolling Stone magazine calls it the “Best Beatles Tribute on Earth”. Not only is the iconic music of the Beatles perfectly recreated, but their clothing, hairstyles, and onstage banter as well. Also Tommy Emmanual, CGP with special guest Joe Robinson grace the stage with his unparalleled skills as a master  solo acoustic guitarist. 
  4. The Underground Theater – Come here for the unexpected and try something new. The Underground hosts all types of events, original plays, film festivals and shows that invite audience participation. The theater again hosts the Duluth Short Film Festival, 4th Annual “What She Said” Festival and the Duluth Superior Pride Festival weekend events. You’ll warm up at the “Cold Days, Hot Nights” during the Duluth Dolls annual variety show. While “The Arsonists,” a dark comedy, examines the roots of fascism in this thoughtful play. Sit at the table with all the Shakespearean characters and watch the drama unfold at “Macbeth: Dinner Party.” Join the crazy ride of “Around the World in 80 Days” and “The Wild Party” watching these fun and energetic plays.
