Bird Banding Breakfast
May 17, 2008
Hartley Nature Center
Enjoy a morning learning techniques of trapping, netting and banding songbirds. The program will be taught by Peter Garrett, a certified bander and the Director of Hartley Nature Center. Stay at any of the member Duluth B&B Inns and the Innkeepers will register you for this unique birding experience. After a restful night at the Duluth B&B of your choice, enjoy early morning coffee or tea and then proceed to the Hartley Nature Center (about 10 minutes from most Inns). Begin with breakfast with the other program participants and staff. Then partake in a hands on workshop, trapping, identifying, cataloging and banding a variety of song birds. Workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. In the afternoon, hook up with other birders from the workshop or head out on your own to any of the other renowned birding locations in the Duluth Area. The cost is the nightly rate from the member inn plus a $5 per program participant. Participation is limited so register early.
