Innkeeper’s Secrets

Shh…We’re about to tell you our secrets to our favorite places in Duluth!

The innkeepers of Duluth work together to provide the best possible Duluth experience for their valued guests. All inns are privately owned and operated, offering you delightfully unique historic properties. You will find that each innkeeper has secrets to assure you an enjoyable stay in their well-loved city by the Bay. Just ask them! They know the best restaurants, the best views, the best attractions and the best hikes. Plus that, they own the best lodging experiences in Duluth!

Here are a few places and things we know a lot about…

Antiques & Book Shoppes

Antique warehouses and stores galore

  • Barnes and Nobles (786-0710)
  • JW Beecroft Books & Coffee (Superior – 715-394-2665)

Beaches

Our favorites are the sandy beaches on Park Point and the rocky Gitchi Gammi beach off London Road.

Biking

The paved Willard Munger State Bike Trail winds through the woods overlooking the scenic St. Louis River Valley from west Duluth through Jay Cooke State Park. Bring your own bikes or rent them at Munger Inn on Grand Ave.

Birdwatching

Migrating birds follow the shoreline of Lake Superior until they reach Duluth, then fan out to continue their journey. People come from all over the world not only to document the hawk migration in the fall but to view the more than 300 different species that have been sighted in our area throughout the seasons. Some innkeepers have been trained through Explore Minnesota and they will have books, birding supplies and the latest information regarding birding watching in Duluth. For local up-to-date bird sightings, call the Duluth Birding Report at (218) 525-5952 or check out The Minnesota Ornithologist’s Union.
